The 5 Worst Mistakes Rookie Esports Team Players Make

Share

Esports has been around for a while and more people are trooping into the industry daily. Although most games in the field are beginner friendly, there are some avoidable mistakes that rookie team members make when they join a new team or start a new game.

Here are some of the mistakes Esports teams rookies make and possible ways to avoid them.

Focusing On The Money At The End, Forgetting To Enjoy The Game

Esports has moved from the point of playing just for bragging rights and now has financial incentives attached. Most times, when rookies join a team that plays professionally, they focus a little too much on playing to win to rank up and earn more money.

At this point, the player has shifted his mindset from the fact that he’s playing a game to now playing as many times as he can to win as many games as possible, this leads to having a shallow idea of the intricacies of the game.

Playing solely for the win and not enjoying the game along the way will lead to a lack of improvement in the skill of the player, because they become scared to explore new tricks and focus on that one move that assures their move to the next stage or level.

Esports players should try to enjoy the game even in their quest to win and develop new skills along the way. Do away with the playing-to-win-only mindset and explore, games are meant to be fun.

Miscommunication among Esports Team Players

When a new member joins a team, it’s possible that old members already know the tricks and styles that are engaged while playing a game, however, rookie members might be oblivious to it.

If proper communication is found to be lacking, this could lead to many mistakes and confusion which could cost a team their win.

Rookies should try to make sure that they understand the gameplay before jumping into one by asking the necessary questions.

This way, there is a basic understanding between new teammates and the old members that ensures a smooth game and possible wins.

Reloading of  Weapons

For games like PUBG Mobile, one common mistake rookies make while playing is that they forget to reload their guns.

Compared to the action-packed games of the old, PUBG Mobile does not notify players that they are running low on ammunition and need to reload their weapons, especially after an elongated fight with the opposition.

The next opponent they are confronted with can hit them multiple times and to return the favor, they will attempt to shoot and then find out that they are out of bullets, many rookies and sometimes, expert players have been shot dead while playing due to this.

It is important to keep a tab on how much ammo you have left while playing to ensure that you reload when you need to and do not end up dead while playing when it could have been avoided.

Being Passive Rather than Aggressive

Sometimes, rookie players do this when they don’t think they have enough skills to be aggressive. When you’re still learning the game, playing passively will do more harm than good to you.

It can prevent you from learning how to make snappy decisions on the go and affect your overall performance by slowing down your reflexes.

Also, don’t be overly confident in your ability, you might come across a team that has been tagged as not-so-good, however, it is important to remain cautious and not lose focus.

Play as aggressively as you would when you’re playing with the best teams, life isn’t fixed, anything can happen when playing a game, even if you’ve played with these people and have won a million times, it is best to remain focused and be at alert, you do not want to be the reason your team misses an easy win.

Lack of Team Spirit

This is one of the worst mistakes rookies make when they join a new team. Because you’re a new member and you were probably added to the team due to the promising skillset you have, you might end up being a part of the team just to win and not bond with other teammates.

This can end up really bad for your team. Most teams that come out on top have one thing in common and that is synergy, and those that have ended up disbanded are seen to lack this same attribute.

Just like traditional sports, effective communication, coordination, and cohesion are very important for the success of every team. This way, team members get to share ideas, create relationships, motivate one another, and have a sense of belonging.

So as a rookie player, it’s best to form that relationship with other members of the team rather than shy away from discussions and activities that will bring you together.

This will also improve your skill and widen your knowledge and experiences.
