For years, the African Call of Duty Mobile fans have craved a competition that truly tested the mettle of the continent’s best. Day-long tournaments offered fleeting glimpses of brilliance, but the true champions yearned for a stage where their dominance could be sustained, week after week. The wait is finally over. The African Champions League (ACL) is here, a battleground forged in the fires of competition, where only the strongest will survive and reign supreme
African Champions League (ACL) has come to satisfy the needs of the African Call of Duty Mobile Community regarding their desire. A tournament will be held among the top-rated Call of Duty teams, which is a breathtaking and exciting event. The ACL is The Premier Prestigious Call of Duty mobile League Tournament in the African Region.
The African Esports scene has enjoyed reasonable growth in terms of price pool and competition. From the Africa Esports Championship in Morocco to the Carry1st $15,000 tournament, several other tournaments have been hosted to showcase the strength of African pro players.
The African Champions League is no different in this regard. And in other regards, it brings a different ACL stands apart. The format in which other tournaments have resulted in the “… single elimination method or at most mini leagues” as pointed out by Memories. The ACL is here to reveal that there is more to competitiveness in the African Esports scene.
The ACL Event & The Format
Many tournaments lead up to the ACL, you can imagine different league cups being the criteria for the UEFA Champions League, and the ACL is no different. The ACL is an integration of different managerial cabinets. The African Mobile Championship (AMC) and the African Pro Championship (APC) are among the tournament organisers that came together to form the ACL. This truly gives a Champions League feel.
In a bid to bring this dream into a reality on a bigger scale, ACL organizers have sought to partner with Nexal Gaming to foster communication and publicity. Nexal Gaming is well known for its publicity and consultation in the esports scene in Nigeria and Africa. Partnering with Africa’s Confederation of Digital Sports is also important as their goal is to see that pro-gaming in Africa is under one umbrella. An event should also beget a good partnership, and this is what has happened.
The uniqueness of the ACL also includes its format, having a proper league that can keep the fans of each team anticipating and glued for weeks to come. The feeling of having to watch your team week in, week out in action. Knowing they are competing at the highest level possible in Africa and not waiting for several months to see them compete.
Nexal Gaming can confirm that the tournament will be hosted for over a month. Starting from January 25th to 1st of March. You can see this as a New Year’s tournament and it will run for most of quarter 1 of 2025. In this week’s long battle, teams will go at each other before the winning team gets separated from the “wishing” team.
The Teams & Selection Criteria
An action-packed ACL has proposed a prize pool of $4000 for the first edition. The event will be among invited teams that have performed in 2024.
The invited teams are;
- Ace Gaming
- Aura 233
- Sierra 7
- Nonagon
- Noxious Gaming
- Legion Esports
- Eclipse Gaming
- Up Against Hell (UAH)
- Nato Gaming
- Deathly crow
- Cast Esports
- Special Suicide Squad
Every team that was invited has made their Impact in the African Scene and it is only right to call them to the big table to come and show what they can do. The criteria for selection are strict and highly demanding. Only teams that met these qualities were invited to participate. The number shifted from 10 to 12 teams when the organisers sought to give “… Uprising Teams And also Give The best Foundational Teams a Chance to participate in the big stages” as confirmed by Memories, a moderator at ACL.
The criteria for selection were:
- Teams Availability
- Ability to conform to the rules and regulations
- High level of players on the team’s roaster
- The team’s composure and etiquette
- Team’s performance in the last 6 months
The teams selected cannot be denied these qualities. Teams like Aura 233, Siera 7 and Noxious Gaming made it to the Carry1st $15,000 tournament. You cannot downplay what SSS has done in the scene with back-to-back wins in the Africa Esports Ranking and winning the first LAN event they ever participated in.
None of these teams can be overlooked, and to even call a team an underdog in this competition does not sound right.
