GameBloc is a tournament organiser in Nigeria with many tournaments organised in the call of duty genre. They have been involved in hosting large prize pools from 400,000 naira and above and recently, they just got off hosting the Blitzkrieg event with a unique format.
The Blitzkrieg Tournament
Blitzkrieg is a Call of Duty tournament that held with a cash prize of 500,000. The tournament was inspired by the need to create something different and interesting for the Esports community especially the call of duty community. The uniqueness in the tournament was shown in the prize pool splitting.
“We wanted to do something that would let more people win…” Game bloc representative, Kadiri Tohib, said. The prize pool saw a lot more people winning than the conventional one where just the top 3 or 5 at most get from the cake.
Being Unique was the primary goal of organising the tournament and the format had a really good twist to it. The format had just one lobby, players were to use their individual skills to get as many kills as they could. The kills come with 5,000 Naira each. Everyone in the lobby was worth 5,000, It now depends how much you can rank up.
Owing to the fact that people who get to register for free tournaments do not show up. Gamebloc decided to host a paid tournament to bring people back for the tournament. This saw a significantly higher turnout than it normally would, as confirmed by Game Bloc. Out of the total registered players, because of the price attached to it, the turnout rate was 82%, which is commendable.
Gamebloc in partnership with Nexal was a successful partnership, “… we saw a rise in our members on discord” Kadiri Tohib confirmed. The goal of the partnership was met as Nexal made the majority of the publicity and marketing.
POST BLITZKRIEG
Winner of the event emerged with a total of 7 kills, his expression to winning had an amazing reaction and likewise was happy about the tournament payout too. Creating this event wanted to make it a thing to reward the player with the best performance and that was what happened eventually.
Looking beyond this, Kadiri stated that occasions like this would be happening monthly and that is what they at GameBloc are working on to see how it can be possible.
GameBloc noted that gamers left a lot of food on the table as the turnout was not up to 100 and they were not able to pay the expected 500 thousand naira as they would have hoped for.
Moving forward, it will be more than interesting to see what GameBloc has installed for players in the near future, you can follow GameBloc on their socials to keep yourself informed on new tournaments
