The vibrant and highly anticipated 10N8E Campus Gamefest at the University of Ibadan has just wrapped up in grand style. Spanning two energetic days, May 2nd and 3rd, the event brought together students from across campus for a unique blend of fitness, fun, and gaming culture.
Day one of the Gamefest was centered around finalizing player registration, a meet and greet with the players, and players handed in their kits and gear. Players were also educated on the rules for the game day and ensured they had the latest versions of the games they would be playing. The turnout was very impressive and demonstrated the excitement amongst the younger gamers to be the champions on their campus.

Day 2 kicked off with a morning session of Monster Wake Up. The aerobic exercises and physical activity, emphasizing wellness and movement as the foundation of student life and further demonstrating the importance of exercise and fitness with gaming and digital engagement. With Monster Energy serving as a major partner, the energy was nothing short of electric. Students arrived in droves, ready to break a sweat and participate in various workout sessions that kept spirits high and bodies moving. In addition to the invigorating exercises, attendees were treated to exclusive 10N8E and Monster Energy merchandise, adding a layer of excitement and appreciation to the day.

Beyond the core fitness activities, there was a DJ and MC on hand to get the participants hyped and engaged. The session wrapped up around 10:30am and gave the participants time to return to their hostels and refresh for the gaming session and tournament. By 11am students were already arriving for the 10N8E’s Campus Gamefest, it was just as thrilling if not more so as students flocked to the University of Ibadan’s Conference Centre (ICC), a venue fondly known to staylites for its central role in campus life. With palpable excitement in the air, participants and spectators gathered for what would be an intense showdown across seven popular gaming titles.
The competitive lineup featured PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty: Mobile, Free Fire, Street Fighter VI, Just Dance, EAFC 25, and Formula 1 Racing – a mix of tactical shooters, fast-paced fighters, rhythm games, and high-speed racing. Each title brought out fierce contenders hungry for glory and a piece of the surprise ₦175,000 total prize pool.

Every winner had to battle through multiple rounds of skilled opponents, showcasing resilience, strategy, and raw talent to claim victory. That’s the heart of gaming culture — the drive to compete, the joy of the challenge, and the sweet reward of triumph. Yet, even for those who didn’t take home the grand prize, the energy, camaraderie, and unforgettable experiences made it all worthwhile.
From the high-octane gameplay to the supportive cheers echoing through the ICC, the second day perfectly captured the spirit of 10N8E: competitive, community-driven, and electric. And just so you know, the Campus Gamefest isn’t stopping anytime soon. With the University of Ibadan edition now in the books, the train is moving full speed ahead to its next destination: the Nation’s Federal Capital Territory, the great city of Abuja!
