About Women Games Jam (WGJ)
In the previous edition, WGJ was held all around Africa. Bring in different people from different cultures. WGJ fused learning and networking, making the jam more eventful. There was a pre-jam panelists session that involved several personalities from the gaming industry and beyond.
The kickoff day had keynote speakers from different countries. It is a moment to share ideas and learn from each other. Also, teams would be selected and given a topic to develop and design a game on.
The experience is not just theoretical, as participants will use the following day to deliberate, design, develop and then create a game on their topic. The closing day will give room for teams to come out and present their games which they have designed and created. The winners will also be awarded for their efforts.
WGJ 2025
This year, the event will kick off on the 8th, in a similar fashion to last year’s. Elevating with a topic from the Keynote speaker. Jammers will be given time to meet one another. A time to network, connect and also find teams.
Mixing and matching Jammers with mentors during the event, enabling new jammers to learn from industry leaders and knowing the gaming industry is a place for them. And finally, the presentation of the games in which the jammers have created will take place on the final day.
This game jam is more than a competition, it is a celebration of creativity, resilience, and community. Participants will have the opportunity to design, build, and share unique game projects, connect with industry mentors, and learn from fellow creators.
