Introducing Special Suicide Squad
The Special Suicide Squad (SSS) humble beginning started in 2020, the start of a dynasty. Rising from the laughing stock of the Esports scene to a force to reckon with.
The Special Suicide Squad (SSS) is making rounds in the Codm Nigeria scene and their story of triumph didn’t start today. Let’s take a dive into how this team was built from a falling star to a rising star.
The Special Suicide Squad (SSS) was established on November 12, 2020, by five visionary founders. Together, they spearheaded the creation of a Call of Duty Mobile clan during the golden era of gaming clans in the African community.
SSS – Downtime
From inception, SSS was not the team to look out for or to be feared or even given a second thought when they were matched up against, it was almost an easy victory.
After falling in the ocean of defeats, and drowning in what seems an unending abyss. SSS brought in their new talent scout to rebuild the team.
Turner was charged with the duty of bringing the name of SSS to the Esports scene. He took on this challenge and his goal did not stop at just making a name, it started with it. And it will only end at world domination.
Turner was quoted saying “our mission is to showcase to the world that the African CODM scene is full of talented players who are more than capable of competing at a global level.” Dominating the world stage with African players, a way of killing two birds with one stone.
SSS – Current State of Bloom
The bid to dominate the world starts with dominating every tier in the African Esports scene. The best avenue for this is the Africa Esports Ranking (AER), in Turner’s words is the best place to build your confidence for your team.
Turner recounts his experience from the days he was trying to get players and coaches for his team. It was a hard fought battle to gain players and coaches for SSS. Even after scouting the best of the best players, most turned him down because of the history of SSS they knew about.
“… Every top player I approached to bring over to SSS turned me down without hesitation. It was disheartening, but I didn’t give up” Turner pours out his heart as he reminisce about the beginning of SSS
To complete his objective, he had to reach out to his friend T21, who was well known and trusted in the scene to vouch for him. Turner gave credit to T21 for helping him get his first lineup “He quite literally gave me my first lineup, and for that, I’ll always be grateful. Shoutout to T21 for believing in me when others didn’t” . While building this time, his effort was not in vain
Tables do turn, and tables turned in Turner and The Special Suicide Squad’s favour and now they sign the best players and even players that are not known in the scene but have the best of talents.
SSS now has 4 full African teams. One for each Tier. SSS packs a squad that is full of Egyptian players, called SSS NAF/EU team, who can compete against EU plays on a relatively lower ping (25-40ms). SSS had their back to back victory in the first AER tournament.
People would regard the SSS squad as a stacked team, noting that they have signed a couple of top tier players from different teams, from T1 all the way to unranked players. Turner has made the habit of making offers to players that they almost cannot refuse. You should not be surprised that they are among the highest payer in the Esports scene in Africa.
The current form of SSS has taken the African CODM scene by storm. they just cannot be denied at this point. they went unbeaten in their DECA cup qualifications, to add to that, they did not lose a single map. If they does not show how good they are, I do not know what will. They went on to lift the trophy, which is also their first ever LAN event. they did this amazing feet against a top T1 team, NATO gaming.
A day prior they won the Africa Esports Ranking in style. they did not lose energy as they went on to take 2nd place in a Russian tournament. having to claim silverware in 3 days back to back is something so many Esports teams will wish for and SSS seems to be living the life.
Future of Special Suicide Squad
There’s a strong belief that SSS will continue to foster and flourish in the CoDM community. Turner, strongly affirms that SSS will be aiming to show the strength of African Esports players to the world.
“… there are many tournaments and leagues coming up soon, such as the African Champions League (ACL) and UECE. These competitions are fantastic opportunities to showcase talent, foster growth, and strengthen the competitive spirit within the CODM community.”
This statement by Turner only goes to show that they are ready to take on any challenges that come their way. The confidence stems from the fact that this is what they have been preparing for and they can’t quiver now that they are in front of it.
Appreciation
In conclusion, The Special Suicide Squad (SSS) is fast becoming a thorn in the flesh of top teams and soon rather than later, they would not be regarded as upcoming team but as a major contender for any event.
When asked about how far he has come. Turner only has great appreciation for the founders of SSS iEhinome, Blaise, Legend and a few others) for having so much support for him and the trust they placed in him. He also did not forget to show his appreciation to the Sponsors And to the management team (Chantel, Memories , Alex, Ahbi) and also to the players and other clan Members for ticking with him and trusting his process.
