The Game Awards 2023: Celebrating Excellence in Gaming

The Game Awards, an annual awards ceremony organized by Keighley, a prominent figure in the Esports industry, has just drawn its curtains on yet another thrilling edition.

The ceremony is an avenue to celebrate outstanding achievements in the gaming industry, honoring games across different titles and categories like the Best Directive, Game of the Year, Most Anticipated Game, and among others.

The Game Awards 2023 Games Reveal

It was an eventful ceremony with the Monster Hunter Wilds reveal trailer, the sixth generation of Monster Hunter to be launched on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025! The long-awaited Kojima Xbox project called OD was also revealed by Hideo, also announcing Jordan Peele as a collaborator.

PlayStation also took to the stage to give a free DLC expansion for God of War, Ragnarok titled Valhallah which will be coming out as a free download next week, the 12th of December, 2023.

Arkane Studios also revealed its partnership with Marvel Studios’ brand new Blade game which was described as a “mature, single-player, third-person game fixed in the heart of Paris”. A couple of other game reveals were made and you can read up on that here.

Game Awards 2023 Winners

Baldur’s Gate 3 by Larian Studios won about six trophies including the Game of the Year, the Player’s Voice, Best Multiplayer Game, Best Community Support, Best Role Playing Game categories and Best Performance (For Neil Newbon).

Alan Wake 2 by Epic Games, Remedy Entertainment also won three trophies from the Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best Game Direction Categories.

The Last of Us by HBO, PlayStation Productions won the Best Adaptation category.

Honkai: Star Rail by COGNOSPHERE PTE.Ltd won the Mobile Game

Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt RED won the Ongoing Game category 

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth by Square Enix came out as the most Anticipated Game.

Sea of Stars by Sabotage Studio won the Independent Game category

Valorant by Riot Games won the Esports Game category

Ironmouse emerged as the Content Creator of the Year

Epic Games and Remedy Entertainment by Alan Wake 2 won the Studio/Game Direction category

ARMORED CORE™️ VI FIRES OF RUBICON™️ by Namco Bandai Games, FromSoftware Inc won the Action Game category

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom by Nintendo, Nintendo Entertainment Planning & Development won the Action/Adventure category 

Faker emerged as Esports Player of the night 

Super Mario Bros. Wonder by Nintendo, Nintendo Entertainment Planning & Development won the Family Game category.

The 10th edition of the annual Game Awards was live-streamed from the Peacock Theatre in L.A on Dec 7, across over 30 platforms including Youtube, Twitch, TikTok Live, Facebook and X marking another yet successful celebration of the gaming industry’s finest achievement.
