In the esports industry, breaking records is a thrilling endeavor as each team and player hopes to set a new record each time they get into a new competition.

Some aim for bragging rights and some for the highest prizes, however among all these endeavors, the most thrilling is the quest to set a new record for the longest FIFA video game marathon.

Gamers worldwide have sought to etch their names into the annals of gaming history by surpassing the existing records, and now this Nigerian pro-FIFA gamer seeks to pursue this ambitious goal.

The Current Record For The Longest FIFA Video Game Marathon Record

As of April 2024, the Guinness World Record for the longest videogame marathon playing games in the FIFA series stands at 50 hours. This astonishing feat was achieved by David Whitefoot in Oxfordshire, United Kingdom in March 2022.

He aimed to use the event as a charity fundraiser in support of a local hospital. This was an endurance test that captivated gamers globally and set the benchmark for those daring enough to attempt to break it.

Past Attempts

1. Chris Cook – 48 Hours, 49 Minutes, and 41 Seconds:

One of the most memorable attempts was made by Chris Cook. His determination and resilience saw him playing FIFA for an impressive 48 hours, 49 minutes, and 41 seconds. His achievement, though not the current record, demonstrated the incredible human spirit and love for the game that fuels these marathon attempts.

2. Hunter Robertson – 40 Hours, 6 Minutes, and 41 Seconds:

Another valiant attempt was made by Hunter Robertson. He played FIFA for an impressive 40 hours, 6 minutes, and 41 seconds. While not enough to break the record, his effort was a testament to the dedication and determination required to pursue such a challenging feat.

In 2020, there were reports of attempts by Nigerian pro gamer, Daniel “Dox Ose” Osemeudiame who resided in South Africa to break the 48 hours gaming record by live streaming for four days straight, however there is no confirmation of his success.

Breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest videogame marathon playing games in the FIFA series is not an easy feat. It requires unwavering determination, physical endurance, and mental grit.

In March 2024, Jeph practiced beating the current world record of 50 hours and did it successfully with help from his friends and team. He is pretty hopeful that he will beat the current record and set a new record while doing that. His aim is for 100 hours, although he just needs to exceed 50 hours to beat the current record. His attempt will begin on the 1st of May 2024, you can follow it up here.

Those who undertake this challenge usually have a well-thought-out strategy. A balance between playing, eating, and resting is very important.

Endurance is tested to the limit, with participants facing sleep deprivation, physical exhaustion, and intense concentration for an extended period.

Mental and physical health should also be a top priority. Participants usually have regular breaks to stretch, hydrate, and eat nutritious food to maintain their focus and energy levels.

One of the most striking aspects of attempting to break the longest FIFA video game marathon record is the sense of community it fosters. Friends, family, and fellow gamers often come together to support and cheer on the participants. The encouragement and solidarity of the community can be the difference between success and failure.

As technology advances and the gaming community continues to grow, the pursuit of breaking records will undoubtedly continue. With each attempt, gamers push the boundaries of what is possible, inspiring future generations to chase their dreams.

The quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest videogame marathon playing games in the FIFA series is a testament to the passion and dedication of gamers worldwide.

While the current record holder stands tall, Jephthah looks forward to breaking this record, leaving an indelible mark on the world of gaming and shining the spotlight on Africa as an emerging top player in the world Esports industry.
