24 June 2026
There is a version of this story where a UNIPORT student scrolls past this on Wednesday, tells themselves they’ll register later and wakes up Sunday to find the bracket is full and the window is gone. That version happens all the time. Do not let it happen here.
King of the Port 2026 is a 1v1 EA FC 25 tournament on PS5, 16 players, single elimination, ₦100,000 prize pool. It runs July 4 to 18 at the University of Port Harcourt, with the Grand Final on July 18.

For years, gamers in the University of Port Harcourt have competed in a vacuum no, pipeline, no structure, no clear answer to the question of where you go after you beat everyone in your hostel. King of the Port is the answer. Players who come out of this tournament earn direct access to the Rivers Skirmish League. From there, the pathway leads to national competition and ultimately, representing Nigeria on the international stage.
And this year, there is one more step on that ladder. NUGA, the National University Games Association, the governing body for university sports across Nigeri, has added esports to its programme. The winner of King of the Port 2026 earns the right to represent UNIPORT at NUGA. That means competing against the best student gamers from universities across the country, on the biggest campus sports stage Nigeria has.

KOTP 2026 is organized by the Director of Sports, Student Union Government, University of Port Harcourt, 43 Esports and Nexal Gaming Company. Registration opened June 15 on ENGY Africa, the continent’s dedicated gaming and tournament platform. It closes Saturday, June 27.
Wednesday to Saturday is not a lot of time, but It is enough.
