Gamescom 2026: Nigeria to Debut First National Pavilion

At Cologne, Germany, Nigeria is officially heading to Gamescom 2026 with its own dedicated pavilion, marking the first time the country's game development industry will present a unified national presence at the world's largest gaming trade event.

The "Games From Nigeria" pavilion is being led by Hugo Obi and the team at Maliyo Games, in partnership with the French Embassy in Nigeria, bringing together the country's leading studios and developers under one identity for the first time. The space itself was designed by Bukola Akingbade of Kucheza Gaming, built as a dedicated home to showcase Nigerian creativity, innovation, and storytelling to an international audience.

Across the three-day event, visitors will get hands-on access to Nigerian-made titles and the chance to meet the developers behind them, alongside a program of panels covering talent development and funding in the country's games ecosystem. On August 26, the pavilion will host the Africa Games Industry Mixer, an exclusive session designed to connect Nigerian indie studios directly with publishers, investors, and platform leaders.

The initiative positions Nigeria as a case study for how African game development can move from individual studio success to organized, industry-wide representation on the global stage, opening doors for publishing deals, investment, and co-production opportunities that individual studios have historically had to pursue alone.

The pavilion's organizers are positioning Gamescom 2026 as a launchpad for deeper international partnerships across Nigeria's games industry, from original title publishing to studio investment and outsourcing collaborations.
