Fortnite and Rocket League are officially joining the competitive lineup of the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2026, following the announcement of a major three-year partnership between the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) and Epic Games. This collaboration marks a significant expansion of the EWC ecosystem and reinforces its ambition to unify the world’s most influential competitive games under one global esports platform.

Beginning in 2026, the Esports World Cup will host the championship event for the Fortnite Reload Elite Series, the official competitive circuit for Fortnite Reload. Reload is a fast-paced, squad-focused battle royale mode featuring 40 players, where teamwork, quick decision-making, and clutch revives are essential to securing Victory Royale. By integrating Fortnite Reload into the EWC structure, Epic Games and EWCF are introducing a long-term, globally recognized competitive pathway for one of the most culturally impactful games of the last decade.

Fortnite’s inclusion is particularly significant given the size and diversity of its player base. The game has consistently transcended traditional gaming boundaries, influencing music, fashion, film, and digital culture at large. Its competitive ecosystem has evolved over the years, and the Reload Elite Series Championship at EWC represents a new phase, one that blends elite-level competition with global spectacle on one of esports’ biggest stages.

Rocket League is also set to return to the Esports World Cup, building on the success of its previous appearance at the event. During the most recent EWC tournament, fans witnessed a thrilling run that culminated in Karmine Corp lifting the trophy after defeating Geekay Esports in the grand final. The competition delivered multiple standout moments, including an electrifying seven-game series in the third-place match, where Team Falcons edged out Team Vitality. That result ultimately played a crucial role in shaping the final standings of the Esports World Cup Club Championship, highlighting just how impactful Rocket League has become within the broader EWC framework.

Over the next three years, this partnership between Epic Games and EWCF aims to provide a more predictable and stable competitive calendar for Fortnite Reload and Rocket League players, teams, and clubs. Consistency in scheduling is a major factor in building sustainable esports ecosystems, allowing organizations to plan long-term investments, develop talent pipelines, and engage fans more effectively. Beyond professional competition, the collaboration also emphasizes mass community participation, creating opportunities for grassroots players to engage with the ecosystem and feel connected to the highest level of play.

According to Fabian Scheuermann, Chief Games Officer at the Esports World Cup Foundation, Fortnite’s impact extends far beyond esports alone. He noted that Fortnite has built one of the largest global player communities in gaming history and continues to shape entertainment and digital culture worldwide. Hosting the Fortnite Reload Elite Series Championship at the Esports World Cup introduces a new, multi-year competitive ecosystem within the world’s largest esports event. With Fortnite’s massive fanbase—particularly strong in regions such as Saudi Arabia, EWCF expects to welcome not just professional players, but also creators and fans to Riyadh for what promises to be a landmark moment in competitive gaming.

The structure of the Reload Elite Series has also been outlined, offering a clear and competitive pathway to the world stage. The online competition will feature Open Rounds, followed by Play-Ins, Heats, and Finals. Each Final will be broadcast live on official Fortnite Competitive channels and will determine the top 40 duos that qualify for the Reload Elite Series Championship at the Esports World Cup. These elite teams will then travel to Riyadh to compete for a share of a $1 million prize pool, as well as valuable points toward the Esports World Cup Club Championship standings.

With Fortnite Reload and Rocket League now locked in as core competitive titles through 2026 and beyond, the Esports World Cup continues to position itself as a central pillar of global esports. The partnership with Epic Games not only strengthens the event’s game lineup, but also reinforces its mission to grow esports as both a global sport and a form of mainstream entertainment. As summer approaches, all eyes will be on Riyadh. Whether you are a Fortnite duo chasing Victory Royale or a Rocket League squad aiming for championship glory, the Esports World Cup 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting chapters yet in competitive gaming.
