CODM Africa Champions League: CAST Esports Take 1st Edition

Share

The Call of Duty Mobile Africa Champions League, a Call of Duty Mobile Esports Competition, generated a huge buzz and met up to high expectations, and it satisfied so much thirst. The tournament was eccentric and hooked fans right from the first day.

With its unique format, it gave us the feel of a proper Champions League. The ACL drew the top teams from the African Call of Duty Mobile. Calling top teams like NATO, Ace Gamers, SSS, CAST Esports, amongst others to come and show their skills.

Battles were won and lost, offsets happened, and the fans were off their seats. Total dominations, reverse sweeps and many more highlights.

History

The ACL has a managerial Cabinet that comprises the Board from existing tournament organizers like the African Mobile Championship (AMC) and the African Pro Championship (APC). The African Champion League (ACL) is the League version of this body, and there are plans to make the league a Continuous event.

The pool of great minds came together to give Africa a show. Great care was used in selecting the teams that participated in the ACL. The Tournament is by Invitation only for the First Season. The Criteria for invitation include, but are not limited to, the following: the team’s Activity And performance in Previous AF tournaments stretching back as far as the past six months.

Teams that participated

Battles were won but the ultimate goal was the war, and one team came victorious. 3 teams dominated the league from day one. These teams were in the mouth of the fans and this was mostly the teams people predicted to be the forerunners.

When all the dust settled, SSS finished the league with 27 points, winning a total of 25 matches and losing 8 matches. Even with this performance, they did not emerge the winner.

Ace gamers were ahead of SSS with a single point, accumulating a total of 28 points, winning 26 matches and dropping just 7 matches. This was only enough for them to be in second place, behind Cast Esports by 2 points.

Cast Esports, the champion of champions, battled swear and water, blood and Glory and everything worked out just well. This is a major bounce back from their setback at the Carry1st tournament. Now they have shown just what they are made of.

Aggressive Ops did not have the tournament they wished they had, winning just 1 map out of a possible 33. Deathly Crow was 11th with just 6 points

CODM Africa Champions League

The CODM Africa Champions League was well publicised and was the main talk of the town, the fans looked forward to the publication of the event. It was the main talk of the community, and when the event started, the engagements went off the charts. Even though it was streamed on two platforms (YouTube and TikTok), the YouTube views were about four thousand on the first day.

The tournament peaked at over four thousand and 6 hundred views. ACL was able to garner over 1 thousand followers in its first month. With over 50 thousand views across 24 streams in 1 month. This is a strong statement that should never be overlooked.

Several fans claimed they were hooked right from the start to the finish. The casters like Torri is Kàl and Onaga amongst others made the streams so much interesting.

Apart from the bragging honour that the winner gets, ACL management slapped a $4000 prize pool on the tournament. Creating a more competitive environment.

Partners for this edition were the African Confederation of Digital Sports (ACDS), Nexal Gaming Company, The African Pro Championship, The African Mobile Championship (AMC) and GRIM

Post ACL

The management of ACL understands that no competition is perfect and the great thing is, it only gets better from here on. A few things were noticed in the competition and they are keen to improve upon them.

“For the next event, ACL is looking at improving the Live Production Department so we can provide a perfect Publication of the League games to the viewers and also we are looking to provide platforms that make the League games more interactive. Like an Analytical session pre and post games with guests, and also expanding our audience for more reach”

Constructive criticism and feedback are highly welcomed as this will help boost how they can serve the audience even better.

The expectations of the ACL management were met, the minimum goal set was to see 100 percent participation from all teams, and this turned out just so. And this proves that the ACL has done what most leagues cannot. This minimum requirement is what most leagues could not accomplish and a reason why leagues do not essentially exist in the AF scene.

From the games to the offsets, to the prize pool and the cruise and trolling. The African Champions League has begun to set standards in the African Call of Duty Mobile scene. Although these standards are set pretty high, ACL hopes to set them even higher in the next edition.
