Rivers State Skirmish Division 2 Kicks Off

​The road to esports glory in Rivers State officially begins today. Following the closing of a last-minute registration window, 43 Esports, in partnership with the Esports Federation of Nigeria, is pulling back the curtain on the highly anticipated Rivers Skirmish Division 2 League. Serving as the foundational proving ground for EA Sports FC26 talent in the region, this season carries a distinct, motivating theme: “The Rising Star.”

​For aspiring pros, the stakes have never been clearer. The tournament features a guaranteed ₦200,000 prize pool, with ₦100,000 earmarked for the champion, ₦70,000 for the runner-up, and ₦30,000 for third place. However, the true reward lies in the structural design of the Rivers Skirmish League (RSL) pyramid. Division 2 is the mandatory gateway; no player can bypass it to reach the prestigious Pro League or the Elite tier. To ascend, they must first survive the upcoming gauntlet.

​The Format: Race to the Top

​The journey begins today, Wednesday, May 20th, at 12:00 PM, with the official Grouping Draws broadcasted live on the 43Esports YouTube channel.

​The tournament structure is designed to rigorously filter the best talent:

• ​The Knock-Out Phase: Kicking off this Friday, May 22nd, players will battle in localized groups of four.
• ​The Cut: Only the top two competitors from each group will advance past the initial qualifiers.
• ​The Final 15: Ultimately, just 10 elite survivors from the knockout rounds will earn the right to advance. They will merge with 5 battle-tested players relegated from the previous Pro League season, forming the definitive 15-player roster for the official Division 2 League.

​Notably, the reigning champion from last season will not be returning to defend the lower division crown, leaving a massive vacuum at the top. With a completely open field and altered stakes, this season guarantees an entirely different competitive dynamic.

​Once the dust settles from the intense knockout qualifiers over the weekend, the 5-week league stage will start properly on Saturday next week. Matches will be broadcast from the 43 Studio at First Mechanic Junction, East-West Road in Port Harcourt, bringing local esports production to a national audience.
